I wanted to see what it would look like if I just dumped the paint onto the canvas. I meant to hang this in my tv room, but I don't think it works there, so I'd be willing to sell it. It is 24"x36".
The splash was the original thought. It was my take on what Pollock did, but less controlled than his swirling drips. I wanted to see what it would look like if the paint did what it wanted to do. It's easier to follow the motion of the paint when you look at the piece that way because the spots of paint show directionality and movement. The background was done to fit the style of painting that I've been doing a lot of recently which I consider to be emphasizing color, geometric shape and simple lines.
I am an artist working in Utah. I can paint in just about any style. I generally work with oil on canvas, but have been known to experiment and deviate from those media. More recently I have been selling jewelry for kids and adults and hand painted wooden totes.

Blog looks great! What inspired this one? Was the splash always planned or was it more of an after thought?
